What's the best free antivirus?

I would have to say that the best I have tried would be avast. I think it is really powerful even though it is just free. I have also tried the free version of avg and it was light weight. It did not add much computing burden even when you scan your computer. Though, it provided inferior protection compared to avast.

If you are using windows vista or higher you can download Microsoft essentials from the Microsoft website. It will be very useful and effective.

I like the AVG free. I've been using it for many years now. The Spybot for spyware removal is also a great companion.
