You need to give more background details about your situation. For e.g. Are you making use of the H1B hike for Masters/Doctoral applicants? Or is your consulting firm telling you that they can still apply for you under that quota even though you don\'t have a Masters/Doctoral degree?

In any case, the legal timeframe as announced by USCIS is that it takes 6 months for regular processing and 15 days to adjudicate a H1B application if you do premium processing. Note the difference between adjudication and processing. Adjudication implies that only a decision will be take within the 15 days. Your I-797 (Approval Certificate), will be available only after 30 - 45 days! In any case, you can start work after the 15th day if you receive a positive response from USCIS!
