    There are different ways of doing this. Here is one good procedure for this.

    If you are just planning to use this to learn unix, I would recommend you to start with Live Unix Cd witout having physically install in partitian or use any virtual pc software like vmware.

    personally, my advice would sway more on actually having a seperayte drive in the system soley to use Unix, but hey, I do still agree with the above posts, as long as its a last resort, i.e. not having a spare drive in the 1st place!
