New York City - Announcement - Architecture Group

If you are a practicing software architect or are interested in the
field of software architecture come and join us for the first meeting
of a group that we hope will become the New York City chapter of the
International Association of Software Architects (IASA).

This meeting will be held on February 22nd at 6 PM at the offices of:
    Kaplan Higher Education Online
    888 Seventh Avenue
    New York, NY 10106
    Tel: 212-492-5929

The Kaplan entrance is on the 21st floor. We'll be meeting in the Setty
conference room on the 22nd floor.

Please RSVP to Bill Hazard (bill_hazard@kaplan.com) or Bill Zack
    (wzack@compuserve.com).

About the International Association of Software Architects (From
    http://www.iasarchitects.org.)

The IASA provides a forum for business, technology and systems
architects to share knowledge about application architecture,
multi-systems architectures, vertical and horizontal re-use strategies,
architecture methodologies and strategies, and architecture
    definitions.

IASA provides a place for architects to meet and discuss problems and
solutions to today's hardest architecture challenges. We are opening
user groups around the country to help bring real value to the
    architecture community.

Re: New York City - Announcement - Architecture Group

    Dear NYC Architects,

Thanks to all of you, we've had an overwhelmingly positive response to
the announcement of our intent to startup a NYC chapter of the
International Association of Software Architects. As you know, the
organizational meeting is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday, February 22.

Important news first: Due to the tremendous response, we need to move
    to a larger venue.

Our first meeting will be hosted by Microsoft at:
    Microsoft
    6th Floor
1290 Avenue of the Americas (between 51st and 52nd)

    Map here:
    http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed...w=1&name=&qty=

This first meeting is an organizational meeting. We will provide a
brief overview of IASA's mission and goals and describe the overall
structure of the organization. We will follow this with a group
discussion on next steps. We're particularly interested in speaking
with any of you who may be able to volunteer time to help set up and
run the chapter, company representatives who could sponsor one or more
events, or those who might be willing to provide a presentation in your
area of interest. But of course, we're excited to have the chance to
    meet all of you!

The typical format for an IASA meeting involves a 1-hour (or so)
presentation on a topic of mutual interest, followed by brief business
discussion and an optional social event. Presentations of other
    chapters have included:
    - architecture ROI
    - rule-based architectures
    - overview of struts
    - data caching architectures
    .... and much, much more!
Check out presentations from other chapters at:
http://www.iasarchitects.org. We will spend a little time on Tuesday
discussing opportunities for future presentations (please bring
    ideas!).

Thanks to all of you who took the time to RSVP. We're looking forward
very much to meeting each of you in person!

    Best,
    Bill Hazard and Bill Zack
