Lightbulb Is Free Hosting All Right for YOU?

Hi All. I have this article to post, it seems to fit here and in no other thread/subforum... So here goes.

Is Free Hosting All Right for YOU?

The short answer is - Maybe. Free web page hosting is a great way to start with your Online presence, especially if you are planning to develop a personal web site.

Almost all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) give you limited free hosting when you purchase an internet access package. It’s usually enough only for a page or two. There are some web hosting companies who’ll give you a reasonably complete free web site hosting package.

Downside?

The down side of free web page hosting is that you must accept advertisements plastered all over your web site over which you have absolutely no control. If you are hosting a personal web site and are not concerned about a bunch of unrelated or possibly offensive ads on your web pages, a free web site is a good way to go.

If you are serious about establishing an online business, you should just forget about free hosting. The largely limited array of features, coupled with a ton of ads unrelated to your business can be a distraction for your visitors.

The New Era

Most modern web surfers are quite tech savvy and can easily spot a free website at a glance. They will not take your business seriously if your website doesn’t exhibit at least a basic degree of professionalism. You simply can not do that with a free site.

Up-Side (finally…)

It’s actually very easy to find paid, affordable, good quality hosting - web hosting that will allow your online business to compete effectively against the online market. Assuming, of course, that you know the kind of hosting package that will suffice for your immediate and long term needs.

Let’s have a good look at the pros and cons of free web page hosting v/s a fully comprehensive paid hosting package.

Free Hosting - Pros

Nothing is absolutely free. In the case of free web page hosting, it’s pretty close to being free except for those pesky ads.
Free web sites that come with your ISP’s internet plan are usually easy to set up and modify using free & limited web site design tools.
This is just too true of the free hosting packages offered by some large web hosting companies. They get ad revenue. You get a web site for free.
Free sites should cause no concerns if you are planning to build a web site that is essentially non-commercial in nature.

Free Hosting - Cons

The main drawback with free web page hosting is that it obviuosly looks to your visitors like a purely non-commercial web site.

So if you are want to transact any sort of business online - products, software, or services, or affiliate & PPC marketing. you MUST pay for your hosting.
