    Infosys USA Learnability and Flexibility

    Hello all
I am applying for a position with Infosys in USA and I just went through my first interview round, I am still waiting for the results of my first interview round which was more an HR kind of interview, I was told that there will be a couple of more rounds of technical interviews and that I will be tested on my Learnability and Flexibility

What does this mean? how should I prepare for this. Do I have to brush up on my skills or should I go through the puzzles and brain teasers?
    Thanks

    Hello there,

Basically they will test you if you are interested in learning even though if you do not know.... and how flexible you are if it comes to travelling and working with different groups in multiple projects and also over time etc... The list is not limited.. but it gets you basic idea how the interview will be ...

Let me know when you get the offer .. we are all here in states to help if any help is needed.

    Good Luck

    Learnability and Flexibility

    Hi sanereddy
Thank you for your reply, is there any thing I should do to prepare? I have been working here in the US for the Past 6 years and I have been a programmer/analyst for all of those six years at this small american media company that has a total IT sterngth of 4 developers ! So you might say that I have a lot of experience with learnability and flexibility given that in a small team like that one needs to perform a lot of different roles. The person who did my screening interview told me I should expect a gruelling technical interview since Infosys demands the best, Unfortunately Im not sure how I can prepare for this interview. any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Vikram

P.S. thank you for your gracious offer to help if I should get accepted to infosys

    Hello Vikram,

After being in states for 6 years.. there is no need to worry about the interview.... Just be confident.. you will get through the interview....

Why do you want to join Infosys after 6 years any how.. I would look for some other company...

    Thanks,

    Learnability and Flexibility

    Hi sanereddy

Thats a good question you ask about me wanting to Join Infosys, and I have asked this myself. After some introspection and researching the company I found it to be a good fit for my ambitions in terms of growth, work and career. I believe I would be able to get the exposure and the chance to work on varying projects and technologies.

Also the company I work for currently, has limited scope for any further development as we have completed all major software development projects and have been in a maintenance and trouble shooting mode since the past year and a half. Hence the need for a change.

Do you think my expectations and objectives in terms of wanting to join Infy are realistic?
What should I look foreward to If I should be selected to work for Infosys? I am applying for a position in a technical role and my core development skills are on Microsoft technologies.
Why do you suggest that I look for some other company?

    Vikram

    Hello Vikram,

There are lot's of jobs available now a days in Major companies.... why don't you try to Join the company directly depedning on your business experiance. Infosys is basically a consulting company, they do work for the companies world wide any how... It helps to learn new things but not sure if you will get exposure though....

Once you join a big company, that helps you to take to next level... with your 6 years exp.

This is just my perosnal openion.

I had this kind of idea joining company like wipro, tcs.... 9 years ago but decided not to even after I got the offers from them.

Now I know I tok the right decision ... since I am working for a big company and lot of exposure internationally and helped to move from programmer to Manager.

    Thanks,

    Career at Infy

    Hi sanereddy

I see your point that I should consider joining a company that is related to the business experience I have had over the past six years. I have worked at this media & advertising company in the US for the past 6 years and though there have been interesting technical challenges I have come across I find the need to broaden my horizons and venture in to other verticals that may not necessarily be familiar to me.

I guess this mostly because doing the same kind of work becomes rather mundane and uninteresting after a while. Hence, the need for a change. Prior to working here in the US I worked at couple of consulting companies in Bangalore for 4 years and the projects varied from building Y2K tools to embedded systems, so needless to say work was always interesting and callenging.

In wanting to move to Infy, I’m looking forward to being able to work in this kind of environment. One of the big disadvantages I faced in previous companies including my present company was that they were very small and didn’t really have a plan for training and didn’t really adopt any standard SDLC processes which lead to a lot of mismanagement and project creep and occasionally failure.

Some of my main goals in wanting to work for Infy are

    1. To gain the experience of working in an environment that has standards and SDLC processes in place.

    2. To work for a company where I can have a well defined career path and potential for career and intellectual growth.

    3. To gain wider exposure to various business verticals and to gain the experience of designing and developing solutions for those business problems.

Do you think Ill be able to achieve these goals by joining Infosys? How are the pay and benefits? Are they standard with respect to US salaries and living standards?

    Thanks sanereddy

    Vikram
