Hello Ken,
VB.NET is basically next release of Visual Basic.... Microsoft changed the name to Visual Basic 7....
If you know atleast VbScript, then you should be able to get upto speed with VB.NET. Coding in VB.NET when using Visual Studio is kind of interactive it shows the properties for any objects and methods..
Here you can find step by step tutorials on the latest version of VB.net...
Hope this helps...
VB.NET 2005
Thanks,

I think he asks what program should he make in order to practise. I would suggest making a program that sorts and cleans the start menu.

I would go with obvious choice. Some Microsoft package. They have all kind of discounts. If you are student, otherwise get one. You can even download trial if I remember correctly

If you have a good background in some other (OOPS)programming language then i guess you could jump straight to vb.net but if you are very newbie to programming then VB6 is a great way to start and then you could move to vb.net later.

Talk about popularity, does nobody know of this site?? http://www.VBCode.com
Its really great for VB6, I started learning VB6 from here itself - they have tutorials, sample code, and most of the people who give sample code leave their contact info, so you can get in touch with one of the VB gurus on the site.
And I'm quite sure VB.NET has been started there as well, so it would be a great place to learn for all VB.

Hi,
If you are beginner just concentrate on the VB tutorial first..and after that Vb.net is easy to learn as there would only syntax change and nothing else..
Thanks
