If you want to learn PHP....

The best thing is to take some php script like snews from solucija.com and learn learn. They have great resource at php.net also.

Well that is the way i learned and i learnes fast. Just look at pure code and you will get it sooner or later, but it is very important to look at clean code not some crappy one and the cleanest i seen was in snews cms

Well to tell you when I found that script it convinced me to start learning php. I am python programmer and really didn't want to learn any php or ruby or something because python is really all you need. But then Snews totally changed my life. I have almost all websites based on that little script. And If you learn how to tweak it ...oh my god you are on top of the world

I'm a PHP newbie but i can tweak scripts! It isint hard so dont think that tweaking scripts makes you better in any language.

    Learn from basics.

Not tweaking you have to start at the top .... from variables and down It is not tweaking I am suggesting it is looking and then tweaking to fit your needs. Ofcourse you need some reference which you get on php.net!

I compare learning programming with learning how to operate maschine for making plastics with all those robots .... You have to stare at moving parts of the maschine for hours to realize what the hell is that thing doing. Ofcourse you need a manual right beside you. And after 3 months you are real expert. Same in programming. If you look clean code from top to the bottom and try to understand what the hell is going on you will learn quickly. But if you just tweak, lets say to fit your language(translate) you will not learn anything.

Tweaking others script in no way makes u a language guru. Until and unless u are not able to make Scripts on your own from scratch u cannot be called a guru

Pardon me for my ignorance, but I will really ask this question which I know most of you will be able to answer: How is PHP programming different from the other programming languages? What is its specialty? When do you use php? I have also noticed that there are PHP signs in most forums. Does this mean that the forums are created with the use of PHP? Sorry if these questions seem stupid but thanks for understanding for those who are patient.
