TSR and Virus - Is there a difference!!!!
Hi All,
There are many branches in which C programming exist say graphics, data structures, and systems programming and so on. TSR is another branch in which C programming is popular. I knew that TSRstands for Terminate-and-Stay-Resident. This means that TSR are programs which get loaded in memory and remain or stay there in memory permanently. In this situation is TSR same as Virus. Because viruses also get loaded and stay in memory until it is removed.

Hi,
Yes both TSR and Virus gets loaded and stay in memory. But if you carefully see the way in which they get loaded in memory there a difference lies. That is virus gets into memory without users knowledge but TSR gets into memory in the control of user since it is written by users only. This is one of the difference if someone could highlight some more difference then this discussion section would be more interesting and informative.

Hi,
I don’t agree that both TSR and Virus are same. May be there are some similarities between them. But both definitely cannot be same. In fact all viruses are TSR's but none of the TSR's is virus.

Yes norman you are right with the point that all viruses are TSR's but none of the TSR's is virus. So definetely TSR and Virus differs.Blenda hope you are clear now.
