    Question Exporting in Siebel

    Hey,
I'm kind of new at siebel. I've only started to use it in this company I'm working and I am only working on the client side of it so I have no real access to the actual db and can only perform functions given by that... I need to expert all the clients somewhere so that I can print them in some way. (i.e. through excel...). I looked in the help topics and found the process for exporting query results. the instructions are:

The export function lets you export data from your Siebel application and then automatically open the export document on your local machine.

    To export data
Navigate to the screen where you want to start the export.
To limit the number of exported records, run a query.
In the main list (upper part of the application window), click the menu button, then click Export.
    The Export dialog box appears.
Use the Rows To Export option buttons to define which rows you want to export.
Use the Columns To Export option buttons to define which columns you want to export.
Use the Output Format option buttons to define the format of the output document.
    Click Next.
The Web browser’s File Download dialog box appears.
Make your selection and click OK.
Depending on your selection, the export document opens with its associated application, or you save the export document on your local machine.
I performed the query I want and then I then try using the export option in the file menu but I can't use that because you can't click it (it's frozen).

Does anyone know why or perhaps another way of doing this?

    Thank you,
    valanto

To export the results of a query against the Siebel database to an Excel spreadsheet make use of use DTS on SQL Server. By this approach you can directly export it to an Excel spreadsheet.

Another way of achieving the result of exporting the results of a query against the Siebel database to an Excel spreadsheet is t you can run the query from within Excel. For this you need to setup odbc to db and go to the Excel spreadsheet menu: Data --> get external data. If the query is saved, you can choose to run the existing query or set up a new query the first time. Try and let us know the results.
