Dear tech guru , i had a doubt in your reply plz help me.
Say we have closed the first bug, and opened the new. When the code is being debuggged for the new bug by the developer, what if it leads to re-occurance of the old bug which has been closed already. Can we open a bug that as been closed? Say i have reported the old bug status as closed via bugzilla.

    Thanks

yes.. you can re open the old bug but it will be good if you open new ticket and put the old bug in refernece and source section... since code may have changed since the old bug...

If because of changing your code for the new bug if teh old bug occurs again you have to definitely reopen the old bug with status as re-opened and also place the bug history in it why it got reopened. This means that full integrated testing has not been made and this would help the lead or the managers to take steps to avoids such occurences in future.

    Thumbs up BUg Status

    HI.........
If BUg 0002 has been occured due to Bug001 then do one thing.
As bug001 has been verified now so its status cant be 'REDO' now.
So log bug001 again with "NEW" status and bug002 also with "NEW" status....

first that previous bug has closed so that status was closed only. Now you founded a new bug so it's status is open only.

Once the bug is fixed by developer, as a tester have to perform ( retest and regression testing) to confirm that original defect is removed successfullyand checking that bug fixes are working properly by fixing these bu other components are working as per the requirmentsare they got disturb.
.B'coz there is a possibiity of one error correction may introduce new errors.
