For the first part of your question, probably you will best know if you will be able to do it or not, But I can assure you, you can do it, provided you put in required effort.

As for Java and .NET, actually .NET is not a programming language.
You can start with C, C++, for the basics and then you can decide on which you want to do development work viz Java or .NET.

    Thanks

    want to become a programmer

Thank you very much Mr. Harry for the suggestion. I have dome java programming 7 years back. But then I was completely out of touch and started as a QA tester 1 1/2 yrs back.
Can any one suggest that its good to move to programming field or continue in testing. But I am interested in both. Paywise programming is good. Do you agree?
    You can openly suggest me.

I hope its paywise good if you do programming, but there are cases even a QA professional is earning more than a programer.
But your question depends your age and your efforts to switch to programing
If at all you want to switch to programing then I would suggest you to choose classic vb first and then vb.net and so on...(hoping you will be having the basic fundamentals of programing language)

yes, its good pay. I think I can put the effort needed. I am 29 yr old with family and kids. Thanks for the suggestion. Please let me know whether it will effect the resume. As I am in QA now, Can I make a resume as a fresher or its tough to find jobs like that?

I dont think your age will effect the resume, but what I mean is if you are young then you will have enough time to learn and earn else it will be difficult for you to learn and work

I want to become a developer / programmer. Presently, I worked as a data entry and analizer in a d-base called galileo. The back end is SQL.
How can I begin the programming training?
