learning basics of java helps VB scripting?

I am going through the basics of java programming (just reading java programming book). Do you think it will help in learning VB. As a QA tester, they are planning to use QTP in my company. Do you think it will help or you suggest me to learn VB.

Its no doubt that QTP script is similar to VB script so u can read VB basics but reading java books will not hlp you. This i can say because i am also doing the QTP automation in my company and i had got my traing on J2EE. Its better that you read VB books and the best would be to read the Help topics in QTP. That would help you more than anything.
