Performance testing is designed to to test the run-time performance of the software within the integrated system to check whether there are any hardware or software factors that impact on the systems performance.
Load test is checking whether the system is able to handle real-life operations with the stated resources.
Stress test is checking that worst load it can handle is well above real-life extreme load.
In other words, it is done to find the point at which the system breaks.

Hello,
Performance test will be conducted to ensure that the payroll system’s response times meet the user expectations and does not exceed the specified performance criteria. During these tests, response times will be measured under heavy stress and/or volume.
Load test is testing an application under heavy loads, such as testing of a web site under a range of loads to determine at what point the system's response time degrades or fails.
Stress testing is the test used to evaluate how the web application responds under abnormal or extreme conditions. Stresses on the web application may include extremely high number of users and resources.
