qtp installation on virtual machine

I tried installing qtp9.5 on vm but it is not getting installed successfully. while installation its giving "an unhandled win32 exception occurred in instdemo.exe(772).

after acknowledging it the installation is getting completed and while starting the qtp its giving vlserror handle(0).

do we need follow any special steps while installing qtp on vm's.

the vm is a 32 bit windows xp with sp2.

one more thing is that i am installing qtp from MSI folder as the normal installation is showing windows installaer 3.4000.1823 and the command lines.

pls help me with this....

for the vlserror handle(0) the environment variables TEMP, TMP locations need to be changed to C:\
