    Guidelines for using Automation Tool

    Dear All....

Myself Somanath working in a small scale Software company wherein company size is 20.... We develop applications on Oracle 10g and Power builder platforms.. Currently we are not using any automation tools... But now we are planning to start with some automation tool may be for Functionality, test management or defect tracking...

Kindly let me know which automation tool to start with in such company and which is cost effective.....

    Regards
    Somanath

If you are looking for commercial tools the HP Mercury Interactive QTP is the best. But it is very pricey. This is mainly used for functional testing and the support is great. Also they have quality center for defect management.

IBM has similar tool like Rational functional tester, Clearquest for the same purpose.

    Thanks
    Raj
