I am agree with tester70. And so these are actually related with money, I mean project's budget. -Budget estimation-

The test estimation means that", an annalist will estimate the designed project that , after the testing of the software how it will go longer to work and how much load it can take

The calculated approximation of a result related to various aspects of testing (e.g. effort spent, completion date, costs involved, number of test cases, etc.) prior to execution of the testing process is the Test effort estimation.

Test estimation is like estimating from the documents you have for the project and sometimes estimating from experience also. Estimations of the project can be budget, risk, time, resources, etc.

    Hi All

Test effort estimation comes under test managment. These estimation can be of two types
firstly expert based and secondly metric based.
In expert based, we talk with people who will work on project and other people who are expert in the work we wanted to do and estimate our process, product quality, requirement, completeion date etc.
In metric based, with the help of previous project we prepare some models,or we analyse our system by asking some questions related to Size ,complexity, tester to developer ratio,etc.. and then do estimation based on these questions.
According to ISTQB, Test Estimation is "Calculated approximation of result related to various aspects of testing."

    Hi All,
Estimation in testing process refers to identify activities, sub activities and risks involved. There are two types of estimation technique.Experienced based and metric based.
In experienced based technique the individual contributers and experts involved ,working together with experience staff members to develope a work-break down structure.with that done you work together to understand for each task, the effect, duration, dependancies and resource requirements.the idea is to draw collective wisdomof the team to create your own estimate.
But in metric based can be further two types i.e simple or sophisticated. In simple approach we found "how many testers are required to per developer on a project." but sophisticated approach involve building mathematical models in a spreadsheet that look at historical or industry averages for certain parameters i.e number of tester per day,no. of deffects found by tester per day and then plugging in those parameters to predict duration and effort for the project.
    Thanks
    Sudhansu
