Hi,

You want to go in which specific area in software, like Programming or Testing?

For programming, you may like to be well versed with Database knowledge, any programming language like C++, Java etc. As you are from a computer science background, you should also be prepared with OS concepts, Networking concepts.

For testing, you should be aware of Database, OS and Networking concepts. Knowledge (although not well versed) of any programming language will be an advantage. Knowledge of SDLC and testing is required.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Firstly Choose which field of IT do u want to go and it will be more better to get a International level Certification in that field which will really boost ur resume. But first decide where u have to go.

Given that you are already learning in the field of computers, it does not seem like you need to "learn" anything else. Basically revise important points for interviews, and you will learn the rest on-the-job.

Most companies give 3 months initial probation, during which time they test your skills and teach you things you dont know. So dont worry about "studying" in order to get a job - most B.Tech students will be picked up on campus recruitments, try for that its the best option.

Then learn with the company.

Before anything else, search first for a company that are hiring and then try applying. As they have been suggesting, hands on job training is the best way to learn things. As problem by problem arrive, you will learn more and more and that experience will give you a hint of what you want to do next.
Enjoy!

yeah... i have to agree with mtajim.. you have to focus what field you want to go into in particular.. software is a really good place to start but its a pretty broad area to specialize in..

maybe you could try fields like practical software applications.. i think its on the boost right now..

hope ive helped..

Does your colllege offer some type of hands on paid job training to work for the campus to gain experience? I know our campus pays around 12 bucks an hour for XX amount of months for any student in the IT industry
