Ergonomics testing...

Ergonomics Testing : Testing the Ergonomics or Human Factors is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and methods to design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance. Ergonomics contributes to the design, and evaluation of tasks, jobs, products, environments, and systems in order to make them compatible with the needs, abilities, and limitations of people.

Ergonomic testing
The operators view on the system
• User friendly?
• Is the working procedure good?
• Are the menues the right ones?
• Is important information presented in a comprehensible way?
• This kind of test should be done during analysis, with the help of a
prototype!

The test software (ErgoManager TM - EM) was installed on the corporatenetwork. The software was used to monitor the computer work performance of allparticipants. The software independently tracks the patterns of keyboard and mouse activity. It coaches users into more healthful work patterns by providing acumulative sequence of alerts indicating the need for a microbreak based upon theintensity and duration of keyboard and mouse activity. In addition, the softwareprovides periodic ‘stretch-break’ alerts based on overall computer usage patterns."
