recovery manager and Startup Script for Custom objects

hi friends,
i'm new testing newbie(i have programming experience thou) and learning winrunner. i'm almost halfway learing it, i mean basic things and am struck up around these few concepts.

1) when we create custom objects, it winrunner help says it's only valid for that particular test and to use all over the test project or in other tests, you need to paste the TSL code in the startup script?? what is startup script?? i don't load any startup script while writing tests, all i do is open/create test and load gui map file and go on coding blah.. blaah. so, what is startup script??

2) when i use recovery manager it says " before using the recovery manager for the first time, you must select a recovery scenario file and then restart winrunner". what does it mean???

3) scripted component, what is scripted component?? i understand it as a component residing in TD/QC server, but what is it, could someone explain the scenarios where we use a scripted component please. And how to create a scripted component in Winrunner.

sorry for the trouble i'm giving you my friends. i appreciate you help, thank you very much.
