How to select a best employer(Consultancy company)

Hi Friends,

Before joining a consultancy, OPT students/New Graduates/Experienced Professionals have to take care of following :-

Ask the following q\'s to the consultancy company, so that we will come to know whether it is good one or not based on their answers.

1)When the company was started? For how long they are in marketing?
2)Whether they have any direct clients or not?
3)How many employees they are having?
4)How many branches they are having in US?
5)If they are providing training, then
5.a)whether they provide free training or not?
5.b)whether they will provide free accomodation or not?
5.c)what is the training duration?
5.d)How long it will take for them to place you once the training is completed (if you are set for the interview)
5.e)If they are charging some amount, then you need to ask them whether they will reembuirse that amount once you get the job or not. If they say yes, then you need to ask them when exactly they are going to reemburise.
6)When they will file your H1 for premium processing? If you need to file your H1 in this year, then you have to ask him exactly when they will file your H1? (ie, whether he/she will file during training period/once you got the job)
7)Is there any Bond you need to give them?
8)What is the salary they will offer once you get the job.
9)If you have to plan to apply for GC, then ask him
9.a)whether he/she will process GC or not?
9.b)If, then when he/she will file your GC?
9.c)How much he/she will charge for GC?
9.d)Where he/she will file your GC?
9.e)How much time it is going to take to get EAD card?
10)If you already on H1, then you need to ask when they will transfer your H1?

Note: Give preference to the companies, in which some of your friends already working in that consultancy company.

If they answer all these questions patiently, then we can move forward. Otherwise forget about that company. Please let me know once you have a talk with them.

Please note that:-
If the consultancy company doesnt satisfy the following points, then forgot about that company.
1)Straight forward (if he told some thing, then he/she have to stick to that till you work with him), ie. He has to maintain good and long-term relationship.
2)Powerful in Marketing your resume(if his marketing is good, then you will get the job immediately)
3)He has to listen all our problems, i mean he/she must need PATIENCE to listen.

At Present I am working In India for an MNC having experience of 5+ years in VC++,COM/DCOM,C++,UML,GIS,RUP,MOTIF,Solaris etc. I got a offer of H1 Visa from an company known as Logicplanet, Inc 55k of annual salary. Job assigment should be East Coast States.
My concern is whether this salary is manageble to me for survive with my wife in US. Also my concern is how about the oppturtunities for VC++,C++ ?
Since I am never went to outside India.

Please I suggestion from you GUYs from US.

That\'s waht people are getting in the beginning. That\'s more then enough and also you can save. Just take it since the H1 quota is getting over. Once you are here, you can change the company anytime. We are all here to help you if you have any problems. I live in New york.

Yes I am core C++ Programmer worked in Solaris Platform. I have confident my self on C++ 8 out of 10. My concern is only oppurtunities in C++,VC++.
Some People are telling that C++ platform jobs are very less.
