S/W Market situation for rest of year 2004 in USA

Hello Friends,

I would like to tell about the sofware market situation for rest of the year 2004 in USA, so that you can plan/move accordingly.

NOTE: This is my analysis only. Dont take it as granted. Just i am sharing my views.

PRESENT:-
Period : July 1sth 2004 - Aug 15th 2004

Java:
Presently stands at number one.
So many requirements are coming, so many people are getting placed.
The market is very good.

PeopleSoft :
The market is average.

SAP :
The market is average.

Siebel :
The market is below average.

.NET :
The market is average.

Dataware housing :
The market is average.

Testing :
The market is above average.

Oracle Applications :
The market is good.

If you ask me rating among these, my order is :
Java > Oracle applications > .Net > PeopleSoft > Testing > Dataware housing > SAP > Siebel

FUTURE:-
Period : Aug 16th 2004 to Oct 31st 2004

The market will improve a lot from 2nd or 3rd week of August 2004.
Because companies will recruit for coming quarter, which starts from September 2004. So they will start recruiting in 3rd or 4rth week of August 2004.

Java:
The market will be very good.

PeopleSoft :
The market will be very good.

SAP :
The market will be good.

Siebel :
The market will be above average.

.NET :
The market will be very good.

Dataware housing :
The market will be good.

Testing :
The market will be good.

Oracle Applications :
The market will be very good.

If you ask me rating among these, my order is :
Java > Peoplesoft > Oracle applications > .Net > SAP > Testing > Dataware housing > Siebel

If you want me to split Aug 2004 - Oct 2004 period, then i can say like this :

Aug 16th 2004 - Sep 7th 2004 - Market will be good.
Sep 8th 2004 - Sep 30th 2004 - Market will be above average.
Oct 1st 2004 - Oct 31st 2004 - Market will be good.

From November 2004 till year ending, the market slows down as shown below:

Nov 1st 2004 - Nov 15th 2004 - Market will be average.
Nov 16th 2004 - Dec 15th 2004 - Market will be below average.
Dec 16th 2004 - Jan 10th 2005 - Market will be below average.

Here is a link on the research on the programming languages' market. It is from October 20, 2005 and this research might be outdated already but we can still see the trend on the programming languages through this research.

Click the Programming Language Popularity to read the whole research.

Here's the introduction of the research:

This article seems to be generating a lot more interest than I had imagined. Please read this before you comment on it.

* It is for fun. It is not an article I'm being paid to write, so I do the best I can with the resources available to me. These include freely available sources on the web. Part of why I think the survey does have some broad validity is that I have attempted to utilize a variety of sources. In a future version, I think I may also attempt to include data from Amazon about books available on various subjects.

* Why isn't XYZ in the list?! There are lots of programming languages out there. In a recent job, I was programming Erlang, and liked it a lot. But to give some sort of cutoff, I chose the Overture dollars/click data, which isn't present for lots of "minor" languages. For instance, Cobol figures better in Overture than Lisp and Prolog do, even though Lisp is in my opinion far, far more interesting.

* If you think the methodology could use improvement, well then by all means send me some email with your ideas, or if you're the independent sort, go off and do your own work if you think you can do better.

* "Windows" and "Unix" programming. These are obviously not programming language (although from comments I am getting maybe not as obvious as I had thought). They are just queries I threw in as extra data points, for the fun of it. Sheesh!

* If you just want to look at one big chart with lots of pretty colors that has "the results", scroll to the very end of this article.

The charts are very dynamic. I mean we can't always rely on these charts because every now and then the usability of these programs changes on what the companies needed. But as we can see in the charts and also today, companies still are going for languages that are object-oriented like Java, C, and .Net.
