Choosing a good job

I have been applying for a new job to two different companies. Both offered the same type of job. I was accepted by the companies. The only difference is that one company offers a high pay with few benefits such as no overtime pay and no midyear bonuses. The other one on the other hand offers a less pay with lots of benefits such as overtime pays, different holiday pay rates, midyear bonuses, 13th and 14th month pay.

Which company would I choose?

You are very lucky having to choose which company you will work for.

Salary is one thing in a job but for me, the more important thing is if I'm enjoying my work there. Even if I have big salary at the end of the month but I'm always stressed and unhappy with the company, I will eventually spend the savings that I earned for my medical fees because of the stress I took from the company.

About your decision for what better company you will work for, try looking at the big picture. Compare them for 1 whole year of work. For the first company, you are working on a regular basis, say 8 hours a day, and have a high salary but less benefits. Add all the monthly salary for the whole year. Now compare that on the second company's 1 year salary. In the second company, you have less salary than the first one but have more benefits. You must work overtime in order to reach the amount of the salary given by the first company.

So there you go, it is apparent that I will choose the first company. It is mentioned that there are less benefits but I can always apply for an insurance so that whatever happens to me, I have something to lean on.

Though marky has a point, I rather go with the company that takes good care of his employee through good benefits. Even if the salary is that small if I am happy working in that company and I'm assured of the benefits then I guess that's a better deal than having big pay but less benefits. But if there is another company that has big pay and with good benefits, then I would gladly apply for that company.

Based on my personal experience, the best company to work with is under the government owned company or agency. My main reason for saying this is that, if you work under the government as a regular employee, you will have assurance and security that you will stay with your job until your retirement age and recieves pensions when you retired. Although employees working on a lower position receives only a little compensation, they can still enjoy regular benefits, leave privileges, bonuses and loan assistance.

Lucky guy u are that u got chance of choosing the company. Well in my view , i think u have to go for the company which will give u more benefits. because at last after receving all those benefits your total salary will actually be equal to the company that is paying high salary . and more over u will be secured in this company with these benefits

Give serious consideration to the extra income. The reason I say this is because once you accept a salary it can be hard to get increases or pay rises and some of those benefits may never eventuate. For example they say they will pay overtime, but they may never ask or let you work extra hours. This would mean that you have less opportunity to increase your income if you need too.

If the salary difference is large enough it can make up for other benefits as well. I'm not suggesting one is better than the other, we'd need to knore more details and specifics, but just remember the saying "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

Either way, congratulations on your new job (whichever one you choose)!
