I'm by no means a guru so I'm just giving you my opinion and the limited knowledge I have:

The main differences between the two are in the networking and domain setups. I think Home edition mainly uses workgroups and basic sharing while Professional gives you a much more secure and useable network environment including domain servers and proper user accounts.

For home use, Microsoft Home edition is funnily enough, pretty reasonable. But for a home office or business use, I would spend the extra money and get Professional, it runs better, has more functionality and security and generally has less issues with configuration and connectivity.

Hope that helps.

Thats nice of you... You did read me well, since mine is sort of home office - small business, I would go buy Professional edition, just as you say, I think even IIS is not available in Home Edition.

Thanks again...

Yeah probably best. Leaves you more flexibility for future expansion, adding on other computers on your network and greater manageability and such things.

Good luck with it!
