intercepting "Ins" key

Hello,
I need to intercept the status of the "INS" key on the keyboard. I know I can use the call "xAF", function 47, to test wich lock key is active; but, HOW can I know that the 3rd bit is set on/off? Actually: how can I "see" the status of each bit in the 16-bits "comp-x" variable?

Thank you very much for any help
Helves
