quick install guide (2 pages or so) in Informatica Installation CD is quite good for doing the installation. One way to get the copy of Informatica is to become a developer member of Informatica which costs around $500/year. It allows you to get most of the software for training purposes.

I have given below some hits and guidelines you can follow while you install informatica.T hey are namely:
* Install client
* Install ODBC
* Install the repository server
* Go to services and set the log on properties of the service as 'local system
account and then start the service.
* Install the server then.
* Go to repository administration console and register the server.
* Create a repository and then a folder in that.
* Install the server then.
* Go to Services and start the server.

You can install informatica on windows 2000 server as well as in xp professional. But I think it is not possible with xp home. Someone kindly clarify on this idea.
