regarding datawarehousing

hi everybody!

i would like to congratulate exforsys for starting this new learning series on datawarehousing.. i have gone through the first two tutorials.. the language is quite easy and simple.. i have some queries about it:

1. r u also going to give tutorials on how to use specific tools like informatica, datastage, etc.?
2. in total how many tutorials u r going to give about datawarehousing and within how much time u will cover all these tutorials?
3. wat is the full form of OLTP? wat is the difference between OLAP and OLTP?
4. when conventional datawarehousing is able to handle and answer complex queries than wat is the need of OLTP and OLAP?

thanks

We will be covering the topics mentiorned in the training details article unless some one willing to help with the tutorials in tools like informatica, datastage. We are trying to hire someone who can build these for us.

We are trying complete complete course in 2 months, I guess it will be more then 100 tutorials covering all the aspects of MSAS.

3. wat is the full form of OLTP? wat is the difference between OLAP and OLTP?
OLAP : A tool to evaluate and analyze the data in the data warehouse using analytical queries. A tool which helps organize data in the data warehouse using multidimensional models of data aggregation and summarization.
Supports the data analyst in real time and enables online analysis of data with speed and flexibility.

OLTP:
Designed for real time business operations.
Optimized for a common set of transactions, usually adding or retrieving a single row at a time per table.
Optimized for validation of incoming data during transactions; uses validation data tables.
Supports thousands of concurrent users.

These 2 will be convered in our training series in detail

Quote:
4. when conventional datawarehousing is able to handle and answer complex queries than wat is the need of OLTP and OLAP?
Designed for analysis of business measures by categories and attributes
Optimized for bulk loads and large, complex, unpredictable queries that access many rows per table.
Loaded with consistent, valid data; requires no real time validation
Supports few concurrent users relative to OLTP

Again, all these are covered in the tutorials, why and how you should select.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi all,

After spent quality time I found I am at right forum. I like to verify Is following the road map to dataware house architecture?

Wish to get information abt:

How much costs for training for each tool.. Any good training institute in pune. Any certification. How long will course(s) take? What is the current market and trend for DW? Any DW user group in Pune? Any DW virtual user group? how a novice get into DW?

Thanks and Regards,
