link collector in datastage

can any one tell about the functionallity of link collector in data stage.
is it like union or join?

Link Partitioner - Used for partitioning the data.
Link Collector - Used for collecting the partitioned data.

i am using the link partisioner and link collecter but the values in records are not loading instead of values zero values are loading.i dont know what the wrong i did.can any one tell me y this happening.
