Technical Communications Manager
Expected time of joining: August 2005
Job responsibilities:
· Take complete ownership of designated product lines
· Interact with the stakeholders in product rollout
· Assess documentation needs and schedules in areas such as user documentation, marketing support documents, and technical support documentation
· Estimate impact, budget, and effort and provide realistic schedules
· Plan, monitor, and deliver on time
· Track project progress in association with the product rollout team and take corrective action


Experience profile
1. Minimum eight years experience, of which at least two years in independently handling technical documentation teams
2. Experience in the following areas:
A. Managing documentation projects to meet budget and time requirements
B. Handling simultaneous documentation projects
C. Interacting with geographically dispersed technical publications and engineering teams and product support/marketing teams
D. Working with client teams both offshore and onsite
E. Deployment of single sourcing
F. Handling full doc set for product lines, including Online Help, release notes and SDK documentation
3. Expert level user of FrameMaker for at least three years: Should be able to mentor team members on Structured FM

Other notes:



· Experience in XML-based publication systems and tool migration of legacy documentation
· Knowledge of OEM customization processes and experience in handling such relationships
· Knowledge of international audiences and translation issues
· Knowledge of Arbortext and such enterprise publication systems, especially in implementing and customizing
· Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
· Must be able to travel on short notices for short durations (2 weeks) to coordinate releases with multiple teams

· Create documentation for storage networking infrastructure products and switches
· Create, edit, proofread and deliver multiple formats of documentation


The deliverables include:

· End user documentation: User manuals, online help, installation guide, administration guide
· Developer documentation: API reference guide, SDK documentation
· Technical support documentation: installation guide, maintenance manual, Troubleshooting guide, Quick Reference guide, configuration guide, storage network planning guide


Educational background:

Post Graduate in English/Journalism/ Mass Communications. However, an Engineering degree/ MCA/M.Sc. is preferred.
