Gmail goes POP3 - Access GMail with Outlook
Here are the instructions n how to access Gmail from Outlook Express.
Download PGtGM v.8 here and Install. http://www.jaybe.org/pgtgm/pgtgm.zip Okay, here goes. Right now I\'m doing this as I type in MS Outlook 2002 and PGtGM v.8. Here we go. In the exaples, I will assume my gmail account is \"user@gmail.com\" (which it isn\'t), and my name is User Smith (which it isn\'t) 1. Start up PGtGM 2. In the Gmail username field input you gmail username. (Ex: \"user\", no capital letters and without the quotes) 3. In the Gmail Password field, input your gmail password. (Since I come up with such original passwords, I would enter somthing like ekj%$$FFER#, but we can\'t all be as cool as me.) 4. Now open MS Outlook 5. From the tools menu, select email accounts. 6. Choose \"add new account\" and click next. 7. Select \"POP3\" and click \"next\" 8. Enter your name where in the \"your name\" field. (It really dosn\'t matter what you put here) I would enter \"User Smith\" 9. Enter your email address in the \"email address\" field. I would enter \"user@gmail.com\" here. (no quotes) 10. In the \"user name\" field, it is important that you enter the EXACT name that you entered in step 2. (user in the example) 11. In the password field enter your password. 12. In the \"incoming server (pop3)\" field, enter \"localhost\" (still no quotes) 13. In the \"outgoing server (SMTP)\" field, enter \"localhost\" again 14. Now you should be set up. If you have more trouble, post back here. |
