TCS Interview Procedure

ONLINE TEST:
For TCS Online test previous papers r more than enough.
I dont remember the qns exactly of Aptitude section.Just sending a general format.

qns r repeated i.e. the pattern remains same only the data get changed.So refer the previous papers for Quant..I m sending u the format as i dont remember the exact data.Just go through each qn.the imp factor is speed & if u know the method to solve each qn prior to ur test u can easily solve the Aptitude section very fast.In the last part of Aptitude Section some paragraph type qns r there i.e. based on the para given in qn u ve to answer 3-4 qns(Blood relations,etc.).

For guidance u can refer R.S. Agrawal.
DI was easy but u ve to be fast(ref:Barrons).

Verbal Reasoning section was easy for many students as most of them got previous papers' words.In my set however I got some new words.But sorry I dont remember them all.Just go thru Barron's High Freq Wordlist & previous papers words.U wont ve any problem.If u ve time then try to go thru the Tests given in Barrons.RC was also easy.U need not refer any book for tht.
I wud suggest u to prepare Critical Reasoning very well.coz here many students were not thru the Online test coz they cudnt solve the CR part.Try to prepare it from 12th/13th edition Barrons.They follow Barrons very much.U can also refer Summers for tht and R.s.Agrawal Non-Verbal Reasoning.But always try to go thru previous papers first as in TCS qns r repeated.

Technical Interview:

My interview went very nice.First I was asked "How was ur day?"
(We were waiting for the interview from a long time)I answered:very fine sir.Then "hobbies" Asked my favourite subj.I wud suggest just prepare ur Favourite subject very well(all topics).They can ask anything.
As I was asked many topics frm OS(I didnt expect!!).But dont worry they'll ask only basics.Prepare C/C++ very well,especially C.They asked only C here.
GEneral topics-pointers(gave a program in C having pointers & asked me the output),

What is recursion?Can u give an example?,

string reversal prog,sorting,hashing.

Prepare DS-linked lists,hashing,sorting,etc.,s/w engg-SDLC,OS-wht is OS,CPU scheduling,C,DBMS very well(only fundamentals) with strong hand on ur favourite subj.

One imp thing:Prepare ur project very well.they generally ask abt projects( 3-4 qns on ur proj.)

We had no Psychometry test as u might be knowing
HR/MR
Here they merged HR & MR
In HR/MR first qn-"Tell abt urself",I was asked my class rank also.then family background,if not selected in TCS wht wud u do? Wud u go for other companies ..tell frankly!?after selection wud u switch to other companies (foreign MNCs)?Are u willing to relocate?Do u know we ve a bond? Any qns to ask?etc..

My suggestion:Tell them frankly whatever u feel(dont bluff!) along with show tht u r deeply interested to go & work for their company.Collect information abt TCS. & say I wud like to be the part or rather happy to be part of such a company which is going to be in Global top 10 by 2010. They asked wud u switch to foreign MNCs if being selected?

I answered:If I get the progressive environment in TCS then I need not switch.Also by 2010 it is going to be intop 10 so I need not look for other companies.

Other qns they asked to others:general qns like strengths,weaknesses,etc.
OTHER general Suggestions:Always wear a smile (but a genuine one!!) and be calm & confident.

Also prepare ur CV well.They can ask qns based on ur CV.

If u dont know an answer simply say:I dont know sir.dont try to confuse them.....otherwise they wud confuse u!!!

and interview was pretty easy ,just simply

"tell me about urselves "
"about family "
no technical only one person or two were asked
questions on project
only for cse 2005 pasout were asked questions like
"what is pointer"
" what is dbms"etc.

those who have cleared the gd are probably selected (interview will be nominal)

HI Dear,

I am Viren from Chandigarh, I had given interview in tcs mumbai and have cleared all the rounds. In HR, they asked me sme questions then kept the photocopy of my experience certificates and said that we will tell you. Now 3 days passed and i didnt receieve any information. Can u please tell me how much time HR take to inform u about your status?

I am eagrly waiting for their call as HR told me that u have cleared all the rounds.......
