assigning fields to different users (......not owner)

I can use advanced find option and assign particular records to
another owner

BUT

Can i do the same with other fields? for example i have a field name
'primary consultant' and i want to select the records having the
specific person primary consultant and then assigning primary
consultant to someone else (in batch as i have thousands of records)

Hi Aami,

have you tried this with the workflow manager yet?
Manual rule --> Check entity --> specific field with specific content -->
update entity --> specific field with specific new content

I hope this helps

Re: assigning fields to different users (......not owner)

Aami,

While what Andreas has said will work, there is an easier way in 3.0 -
batch updates. I'm looking at the Advanced Find window for Cases right
now, and under the More Actions menu on the grid is an item called
"Edit". If you first select multiple lines on this page, and then
click on this Edit menu item, a window appears (Edit Multiple Records),
and you can update one (or more) fields with the same value. And CRM
will dutifully update all selected records to the value(s) you specify.

<Shameless plug alert>... I was very happy to see, as I tested this,
that MS does indeed use the API to perform these updates (and not
direct SQL), as this means that the post callout mechanism is
triggered, and therefore our VAST add-on product for CRM tracks and
records all changes made using this Batch Update / Edit Multiple
Records mechanism! Not only is this my new favorite volume testing
tool for VAST, but it also increases the value of VAST as well! Why?
well, without VAST, a disgruntled/novice user can now more quickly
trash your CRM database - with VAST, you can run a VAST Insights query
(as I just did) to see every change that was made, who did it, and what
the old values were, so you could restore the DB to its proper state...

</Shameless plug alert>
