MS SQL Server 2000 not functioning

Hi frenz,

I have installed Visual Studio.NET 2003 and MS SQL Server 2000 also. Everything was working fine few months back.

Now I thought I shall brush my skills and started developing simple web applications but it is giving an error and the reason is MS SQL Server is not running!

Please help me in this! I tried refreshing and restarting it by opening the server service manager but no use!

Actually I have one more problem with my system i.e. My sytem is running short of Virtual memory. I tried chaning the paging file size, still I\'m facing problem in setting it to a maximum value(It allows only 4096).

Actually My system is having more than sufficient hard disk space. Why that problem is coming? And is this anyway related to the problem of SQL Server starting up?

Please help me. Thanks! Awaiting for reply!!!!!!

Regards,
Abhi

cbdarts is an unknown quantity at this point
My best guess is one of these two:

1. The SQL Server Service is set to "Disabled" in the control panel, services section, thats why service manager is not able to activate it.

2. The Files could have been corrupted during the dis-use period by some calamity - power faliure, disk faliure, or sector corruption.

The second has very little chance, so the first option is probably the right one. Check it out in the control panel. If everything is OK and it still doesnt work, try a reinstall.
