It is a scripting language. One can build small application and small websites quickly using Ruby on rails.Lately ruby on rails has got good exposure due to the easy and time taken to build web applications using this language.This cannot be compared to languages like Java or C++.It can be compared with python and perl scripting languages.

Ruby on Rails is similar to that of MVC also called as Model View Controller architecture. Ruby on Rails is an open source web application framework and it is written in Ruby. Rails are an MVC web framework where models, views, and controllers are fully integrated in a seamless fashion. Everything from business logic to configuration files are written in the Ruby programming language and it is a very productive environment.
