SAP PM- how to get a project

I have a friend who works as a SAP PM ( plant maintenance ) consultant. It is really really tough to find projects in this area. Getting an interview call is a big deal. The bill rate
( $150/hr) is very high compared to other technologies. Do any of you know how few people are successful in finding jobs in such niche/high pay rate technologies provided that they have 5-10 yrs experience and the required skill set?

I am trying to get trained in this module and am going to invest lots of time/money ( its scary) in this. But I thought I should first research and find a way to successfully get a project.
