Design patterns for assistive technologies

With the implementation of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) in the UK
there is an added importance with assistive technologies (software and
devices).

I have been looking for some design patterns to help in the decisions as to
which technologies are appropriate in particular cases (partial
sightedness, inability to use a mouse etc.).

I haven't been able to find anything that is particularly appropriate. Is
anyone aware of anything in this area, and could they point me at it.
