Discuss Your Experience - Is all types of Testing followed in Development Cycle

Hi All,
Testing is very important process in programming cycle because it is by good testing process one could give quality error free product. Having this in mind I made a theoretical study on different types of testing to have informative knowledge on all types of testing. But now I have a query which is: Do a programmer or tester will do all types of testing in a programming process? Or what all testing types one would definitely have to do in a development cycle. Someone put your experience in this area.

Regards,
Allan

Hi,
Your question seems to be a practical question anyone who have gained theoretical knowledge alone in testing would have. The answer to this cannot be given in general way. But I would say that all development cycle do not follow all types of testing. What is the testing type followed depends on the program, system cycle and many attributes like this

Regards,
Norman

Hi,

Yes as posted by norman the decision of testing type for a program or system depends on number of attributes. I also like to add one more point which is but all testing cycle have a common process namely preparing test plan, test case, reporting bugs or errors and passing back to development team for corrections and so on. Only thing that varies is the types of testing chosen.

Blenda

Hi,
I agree that the type of testing depending upon the attributes. But generally is it not that all systems would execute unit testing, system testing and Integration testing. If I am wrong let me know the answer.

Regards,
Norman

Its depends upon what product or application u are tested...since it is not possible to test each and eavery feature of the application or products...But the Imp attributes are fully tested...

This test case simulates the database actions of an online auction scenario.
1) user(sellers) add(resgistration)
2) Sellers (registered users) will update items or its profile.

eg. TC1- description-when user click on new user(sellers),sellers registration sceen must come with focus in user name, fill the username, password, address, item to sell, item description and click add button,it show the next screen that shows sellers added succcessfully.

tested data:depands what u give

expected:should take that and stored in backend database.

actual: you check it in database by execute query in sql eg select* from regsellers

pass/fail-

This above is very basic scenario of testcase to write...but the database test is mainly done by automation tools like winrunner where there are procedure like runtime, custom etc database testing options can be used.
