why not. the most efficient way is manual testing only. we go for automation only when the work becomes repetitive. like when you want to execute the testcase on different releases of your application.

new to testing- could any one help ?
Dear All,
I am Savina. I got your e-mail id from Digg.com. I have done my Diploma in Computer Science .I have some experience with an ERP system, but i haven't got any experience in software development. I want to get into software testing field and I want to do the certification as well. Could you please guide me about the ISEB and CST certifications. Which is more easy to get. I am planning to get some study materials and to start studying from home . Would that be enough to clear the exam ? Could anyone suggest me from where I need to start ? I have gone through some insitutes which provide training for 3 or 10 days and conducting the exams .......is that all possible ? Could anyone provide the study materials which are the basics for the testing........? At the moment I am in UK, now I am planning to study from home and to go for a training and the exam in this december when I am back to India.Would that be okay ? It would be great , if any of you could help me in this regard..... Looking forward, Savina Sarath |

Testing Web application and learning testing.
It is very much possible to test web application manually, for that matter any application can be tested manually. You need to go for automation when you see any value in doing that. There are many differences in testing web application and other applications including client-server applications. You can learn more about these at http:// testinggeek DOT com/webappsec-1 DOT asp
As far as learning testing is concern, there is enough material available on the net which you can browse/read, you can also participate in forums or if you are very keen, participate in some open source product and start testing it. My 2 cents. Regards, Geek Software Testing - Geek |
