The letters stand for Certified Product Consultant. Mercury officially recognizes the product expertise of individuals who hold a CPC credential. The CPC is an advanced lab-based certification intended for individuals who have consultant level knowledge and skills with one or more Mercury software products.
How do I get a CPC?
To get a CPC you have to successfully pass a lab-based CPC exam. The exams are given at all Mercury training facilities. Click here to check the Certification Schedule on our web site for CPC Test Days.
Can I become a "Certified Product Consultant" if I'm not an actual consultant?
You don't have to carry the title of consultant in order to take the CPC examination. Take a look at the Topic Outlines and exam requirements included in each exam's study summary. If the exam topics match the kind of work you're doing, then a CPC certification would probably benefit you - no matter what your title.

What is the difference between the old CPS written exam and the new CPC lab-based exam?
The old CPS exams were project-based take-home exams that took 30 days to complete. The CPC lab-based exams are one-day exams and are taken at a Mercury training facility. The CPC exams consist of multiple choice items and hands-on portions. The exam and projects must be completed without assistance (other than product documentation and any resources provided by the test proctor). A CPC exam typically lasts 6 hours.
Are there prerequisites for the CPC?
We strongly recommend that candidates have either several years of experience working with our tools or a combination of experience and training. Check the Certification listings of all currently offered CPC exams. Each exam has a study summary you can download that includes requirements, study resources and topics covered.
Will I need to have my own copies of Mercury products to get a CPC?
Examinations are held at Mercury training centers, and we provide all of the materials and software you need for the examination.
When will the new Upgrade exams be available?

Is there an exam book?
Yes, but candidates will only have access to it while taking the exams in our facilities.
I already have a 7.0 CPS - can I convert it to a CPC?
If you have a CPS certification in 7.0 and lower versions, you will have to take the CPC exam to keep your Mercury consulting redential current.
What if I have a TestSuite CPI certification?
Following Mercury's Business Optimization Centers, Quality Center replaces TestDirector. If you have a TestSuite CPI certification, you will have to take the Quality Center 8.2 CPC in order to qualify for a Quality Center CPC credential.
How many times can I take an exam?
We would prefer that you take it just once, so we have done our best to provide plenty of information in the certification section of the web site to help you to become properly prepared for the examination. There is no limit to the number of times you can take the exam. You will be charged the standard price exam fee for exam retakes.
What if I sign up for an exam but something comes up? What is your cancellation policy?

How will customers know that I have a valid CPC?
Certified product consultants officially recognized by Mercury are given a unique certification ID number which is visible on their certificate. Credentials can be verified by emailing certification@merc-training.com with an individuals certification ID.

My work takes me all over the world. Will the CPC mean anything outside the U.S.?
The CPC is recognized worldwide. You can take it anywhere.
