pls help me!!! very urgent!!!

Hi everybody,

Pls help me. i'm working in a small s/w company. i'm very new to testing.

my company asked me to write test cases for a developed small project (audio steganography). the problem is that there is no srs for that project. i dont know how to proceed to test that application.

can anyone guide me pls.... its very urgent...

First you understand the each form functionality. then create the test condion,test scenario then create testcase based on what you are understatnd the requirement.

Hi Krish
First you understand of each form requirement, than based on these require ment you will startwrite testcases.


For example :The requirement of one textbox
1. should not allow to enter more than 50 character in reason filed

Testcase 1.
Testcase description
---------------------
Check whether it accepts more than 50 character in reason filed.

Testcase 2.
Testcase description
---------------------
Check whether it accepts less than 50 character in reason filed.

Testcase 3.
Testcase description
---------------------
Check whether it accepts equal to 50 character in reason filed.

Hi lawrence,

I'm very new to testing (fresher). I ve undergone training in testing for 2 months. But i'm very much interested in testing. I didnt write any test cases for any project since i was in development side before. As per company's requirement they converted me into testing since it is a start up company and also it is a different scenario to test the project without srs or brs.

In my training they ve taught me how to write test cases but not how to proceed to test the whole project without srs or brs and also i want to know what kind of testing will be carried out to test this project.

Though this project may seems to be small for you,its my first project to test, i ve to prove myself in this field...

is it enough to write test cases for each objects in all forms? (like text boxes)

Hi Krish,

This is not a big issue to write test cases without srs. What you have to do is:
1) Be clear in what type of testing you have to do. Ask the development team regarding this. (either field validation or functionality)
2) If it is functionality, try to understand the functionality of the product/project from the developers.
3) Once you understand the functionality, you can easily write the test cases.

I think that you know what is a test case, since you have undergone a training for 2 months. Keep in mind that you have to interact with developers frequently to write test case since there is no srs. Reply me about what you have understood and tried and what is the grey area still.
