Microsoft and Pearson VUE are giving you the opportunity to take a “Second Shot” at a Windows Server 2003 core exam – FREE! Simply take any of the exams from the list below at any U.S. Pearson VUE™ Authorized Center between April 1, 2004 and September 30, 2004, and if you “sub-optimize” it for any reason, take it again for free by October 31, 2004.

To schedule your free exam, you must call the Pearson VUE call center at 1-800-TEST-REG (800-837-8734) and tell the call center agent you are taking part in the “Second Shot” promotion. Please wait one day after the failed exam to allow your test results to be entered into the system. Then, take your Second Shot!

Can I take the exams at any Microsoft exam delivery provider?
Only Pearson VUE Authorized Centers in the United States are participating in this special limited-time offer, so you need to take your exam at a US Pearson VUE Authorized Center. If you fail that exam, you may retake it for free at any US Pearson VUE Authorized Center.
How do I get my free exam retake?
Simply call Pearson VUE central registration at 1-800-TEST-REG (837-8734) to schedule your free retake. You should wait at least one business day (after failing an exam) before calling to schedule your free retake. The call center representative will validate your eligibility to get a free retake. When calling, please identify that you are taking part in the “Second Shot” campaign.
Do I have to call Pearson VUE central registration for my initial exam attempt, too?
No, only the free exam retake must be registered through Pearson VUE central registration at 1-800-TEST-REG (837-8734). For all other exam registrations, you may choose to register via the Web, at your testing site or via central registration.
How many free exams can I receive?
You are entitled to retake any one (1) exam that you failed during the eligibility period (April 1 - September 30, 2004). You may receive only one free retake, regardless of how many attempts or different exams you attempt.
What is the time frame that I must take my first exam and the retake of that same exam?
You must take the first exam between April 1 and September 30, 2004 and if you fail it, you may retake the same exam at no additional cost by October 31, 2004.
If I failed an exam prior to April 1, 2004, can I retake it for free prior to October 31, 2004.
No. However, if you fail the exam again between April 1 and September 30, 2004, you are eligible for the free exam retake offer.
If I fail an exam, can I retake it any time?
Possibly. All retake timeframes are subject to compliance with Microsoft Certification Exam Retake rules, which state:
If you do not pass an exam the first time, you may retake it at any time. If you do not achieve a passing score a second time, you must wait at least 14 days to retake the exam a third time. A 14-day waiting period will be imposed for all subsequent exam retakes. If you have passed an exam, you cannot take it again. Beta exams may be taken only once.
