Testing in Unix Environment.

Hi ,

I have just started my career as a Tester.

Can anyone explain me how is testing done in Unix Environment.

Like,.. for a particular application,.. how do we check,.. what do we check in Unix??

Per my understanding,....

Unix can access files,.. so is it like, on doing a particular operation in the application, it generates a file and we have to fetch that file using unix commands and verify it if it is as per the specifications....

What else is to be done to fully test an application??
If possible, please explain with a simple example!!

Regards,
Rajani.
