New to software testing

Hi,

I have attended a course of testing tools in BDPS. I learnt 3 suites. I want now to take the next step. I know winrunner,QTP,etc., But i want to know the real time applications. I want to get help in my next step. I need a done project where i can get an idea of the process .I started testing firefox 2 webpage but i don't know in what manner test cases to be started. can any one help me please....
