L1 visa to L2 visa

Hi,

Currently me and my husband, we both are on L-1 visa and we are working in US. I want to convert my visa from L1 to L2 visa and apply for EAD.
1. Is it possible for me to convert from L1 visa to L2 visa from US itself or I will have to go back to india for that.
2. What is the process for applying for L2 visa.
3. How much time does it take to get the L2 visa. I suppose EAD will take around 45-90 days.
4. For getting L2 visa, do I have to resign from my current company or I can simply take leave. I can resign once I get my EAD or I can also continue working for my current company after receiving EAD.

Dependants are issued L2 visas, which are not employment authorised. In order to engage in employment, L2 visa-holders would have to change or adjust status to another employment-authorised category. L-2 holders can engage in study.

I am holding an L1A and is working currently. My husband too has L1A. Can I convert L1A to L2 . If it is possible ,

3. Can I continu to work till I get L2.
4. If I have to take another job with my L2 , then what is the time period I will not be able to work

b. Immediately after my L2 approval whether my L1 will get cancelled? If Yes then i cannot work using L1

C. Can i go to India after applying for EAD?

I am not sure if it is mandatory to travel back to India for the visa conversion . But I convereted my visa by travelling back .Then I applied for L2 , got it stamped and then got my EAD . The entire process was done in 3 -4months .. Hope this helps you.
