I’m glad to present a hot opportunity of a Sr. SAN Engineer in Herndon, VA.

This is a position of a Sr. SAN Engineer with a large communications company with impeccable reputation that hires over 80k employees worldwide. They are a massive American media conglomerate with major Internet, publishing, film, telecommunications and television divisions. They are publicly traded and headquartered in New York City. They have a market capitalization upwards of $200 billion dollars. Currently their office based in Herndon, VA is looking for a Sr. SAN Engineer.

Position Description.

Position Type: Contract to Permanent
Target Pay Rate: open, 1099 only. This is a 4.5 month temporary to permanent position. After the temporary period the following salary: UP TO $95k + 20% bonus.
Pay Rate Type: Hourly
Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities.
Provide tier 2 support for current and future SAN and
Enterprise backup infrastructure. Provide input for the Storage Operations Best Practice in designing and engineering of next generation SAN & backup infrastructure. Work with Engineering on process, standards, and configuration management. Support and maintain all aspects of the the SAN and backup, including managing SAN switches, drive arrays, and installing & managing all fiber cables for the infrastructure. Verify daily backup status, troubleshoot failed backups, restore data, and manage tapes and the tape library. Strong background in designing and operating a large-scale SAN & Enterprise backup environment a must. Serve as a lead on all operations SAN & backup related projects.

Required Skills:
. 5+ in operations environment
. 5 years of RECENT SAN experience with with SUN, Veritas, EMC.
. Experience with both Unix and Windows Admin
. Great communicative skills
. Experience with managing a large SAN environment & Enterprise backup
required.
. Knowledge of EMC hardware, Veritas Netbackup, Veritas Cluster
Services, and Microsoft Cluster Services required.
. Must have one plus years of experience with Brocade fiber
switches.
. Experience with systems and services designed to support
multi-million customers is highly desired.
. Proficiency in supporting both UNIX & Windows systems.
. Large ISP services experience
. Have at least five years supporting EMC SAN and Veritas Netbackup.
. Advanced knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Solaris are
required.
. Experience managing EMC DMX2, DMX3 & Symmetrix, and Clariion -
storage provisioning, performance monitoring, agent & patch deployment.
. Experience managing EMC DMX2, DMX3 & Symmetrix, Brocade and Clariion
- storage provisioning, performance monitoring, agent & patch deployment,
also with the physical and logical SAN elements, interfaces, and
configurations of Sun & Wintel hardware
. Experience managing large tape libraries, designing profile, and
implementing them
. Experience engineering and deploying Netbackup master & media
servers
. Troubleshoot SAN cluster & backup problems at the local host level.
Must be proficient in resolving issues.
. Document storage & backup management policies, best practices,
physical & logical layout, and projects.
. Perform maintenance tasks during the company designated maintenance
window to minimize the risk of outage.
. Prepare and install new hosts to the EMC SAN. This includes physical
server installs, host naming, host bus adapter installation, cabling and
labeling of all connections and configuration, fiber channel HBA's, switch
connections, port verification and zoning
