Changing File Associations

I want to know the steps for changing file associations in Windows Vista. Can someone guide me on this?

For changing file associations in Windows Vista user must make use of the Set Associations tool. For doing this the Default Programs icon present in Control Panel is used. Using this icon the user can Set their default programs and also associate a file type or protocol with a program .Let me know if you need further detailed approach to achieve this.
