Getting Started with Oracle Part-1

Oracle is probably the most popular enterprise database server at the moment. This is the server that powers eBay on the web and countless data warehouses and VLDBs around the world. Oracle is suited for all applications from OLTP to Data Warehousing. Let's get started with Oracle 8i download and installation.

If you are planning get Oracle Certified , please do so by the end of this year, since Oracle will be discontinuing 8i Certification. We have already added Oracle 8i SQL Certification exam to our Certification Practice. We have around 250 questions and only 50 questions will be displayed at each attempt randomly. Please let us know when ever you are ready to register for Certification exam, we will try to find a coupon where you can get 20% discount and also we wiil send you all the Oracle Certification questions with answers in electronic format , so you can review all the questions before the exam. We will be adding all Oracle 8i DBA Certification track examps in next 2 months including the details how and where you can learn and practice without spending any money. We are confident that you will definitely get through the certification and feel very confident in attending the Oracle related Job interviews. It is not too late to pursue the Oracle8i Certified Professional Database Administrator certification. If this is something you want to do and you are relatively new to Oracle and you have not started yet, today (this was published at the end of June 2004) is the day you need to start studying--even if you are an old hand at Oracle. Count on spending between 10 and 20 hours per week for four weeks (before or after work, weekends, whenever) preparing for each exam. After you have taken an exam or two, you can "calibrate" your study efforts accordingly. If you use 9i or 10g, you will have to translate a few items but that's not a show stopper. There is sufficient time remaining to become 8i certified. If you start now, you will be able to finish with some time to spare. Remember, if you fail an exam, you have to wait 30 days before retaking that particular exam. Your goal is to pass on the first attempt and not spend an inordinate amount of time preparing. When you are finished taking the 8i exams, jump on the 9i upgrade. Take advantage of the study habits and test-taking skills you have developed over the past few months. STS also offers exam preparation for the 8i to 9i upgrade exam. If you get in to any problems during the installation, please use discussion boards. Some one will respond with answer right away.

OCP Exam Passing Scores
Oracle routinely publishes new versions of Oracle Certification exams, and the passing score across versions may differ. The passing score for each exam is set independently to maintain a consistent standard across versions. For example, to maintain a consistent standard for success, a new version of an exam which contains more hard questions than the prior version will be assigned a somewhat lower required passing score.

For this reason, passing scores may vary between different exams in your certification track, and between later and earlier versions of the same exam.

The passing scores provided on the Oracle Certification Program website are for informational purposes only. Oracle does not recommend an exam preparation strategy targeting the passing score, because passing scores are subject to change.

*Scored and Unscored Questions
Your exam may contain unscored questions in addition to the scored questions, so the total number of questions that are presented to you may be greater than the number shown above. This is standard testing practice. You will not know which questions are unscored. If your exam contains unscored questions, the time allowed for the exam takes into consideration the time you will need to answer all questions and review your work. Your exam results will reflect your performance on the scored questions only.
