and many more.
Silk Organizer allows the user to create free-form test plans in flexible, hierarchical format, then easily link the tests to testcases created with SilkTest. The tool allows teams to track their progress, organize their test execution runs, and report on results using user-defined attributes.
Silk Organizer can answer the following key questions.
-
How many automated tests are complete?
-
How many new tests did we do this week?
-
How many tests are in the overall test plan?
For this tutorial, Organizer will be used to described Silk Organizer, QA Organizer, and QA Planner, which was the original name of the tool.
The tool is useful for several key automation tasks.
-
Track daily or weekly progress towards automation goals by category, module, developer, platform, build., etc.
-
Easily select exactly which tests to execute at any time
Originally Silk Organizer was sold by Segue as an add-on. Some companies were looking for a complete test planning tool and chose not to purchase Silk Organizer as part of the suite. A few of the early QA Partner developers still have misconceptions about the usefulness of this tool. Eventually, starting with version 4.0, Segue decided to make SilkOrganizer a part of QA Partner/SilkTest, rather than an add-on.
