Finding a career associated with customer service and customer interaction is hardly difficult, what with the hundreds and thousands of available jobs from many customer-service based organizations and companies that jobseekers can apply for. Although all companies incorporate customer interactions in their transactions with the customers, there are certain companies that mainly utilize the competence of its employees in terms customer service skills, since the nature of the business is predominantly associated with customer interaction.

What are the available careers in the field of customer interaction? What do companies look for and require from potential applicants for positions in that job description? How can a jobseeker have an edge and advantage over other applicants in the customer interaction sector?

Working with Customers

If your aim is to build a career in customer interaction, one of the necessary preparations you must make is to write a professional resume and a cover letter that emphasize on your outstanding abilities in customer service and customer interaction. For a more credible impact, include your previous experiences in the same field of work where you displayed your competence in developing and managing customer interactions.

The general perception of your former work experiences in the customer service industry must be about “working with customers and clients” or if your previous job did not entail dealing directly with customers, still create the perspective that you enjoy “working with people.” This caption is guaranteed to attract the attention and interest of your prospective employer.

Careers in Customer Relationship Management

Customer relationship management (CRM) is a crucial factor and one of the primary instruments in customer interaction. CRM helps create and promote customer relationships through smooth and efficient interactions using various CRM tools and solutions and skill in managing customer relationships.

The available careers in CRM do not really involve direct communication with customers but require expertise in either the business aspect and information technology to adeptly work with the CRM tools and software and managing the business using these tools. The educational requirement of the applicant for the business aspect of CRM must include any business degree, marketing major, or a degree in management. To qualify for a position in the technical side of CRM, an applicant must have any IT-related degree course or a degree in management information systems.

Employers seeking for prospective applicants to fill CRM-related positions would require experience and knowledge in project management, business requirements, business workflow analysis, business documentation, software development, software upgrade, and end-user training.
