Activity Logs Are An Important Tool For Time Management

In addition to schedules and To-Do lists, activity logs are very useful in helping you manage your time. They allow you to systematically study the way you spend your time. When most people view their information on an activity log for the first time, they are amazed to the see the amount of time they waste.

When it comes to how much time you spend doing things, your brain is not very efficient. This is not because your brain can’t do it, but it is because it is short term information that the brain will often not place in your long term memory storage.

Many people don’t realize that the few minutes they waste can turn into huge amount of time over the long term. For example, if you spend a total of ten minutes surfing the net each day at a time when you should be working, it will turn into a large amount of time. Over the course of a month, you would have spent 200 minutes surfing the net if you worked five days each week, and in a year, that would grow to about 2400 minutes! By calculating this with the amount you make per hour, you will be surprised by the amount of money you lost.

This is why many managers become upset with employees who are five minutes late or longer. They know how much money will be lost over time, and when it is combined with the time wasted by other employees, it can become a fantastic amount.

When it comes to your activity log, you will also want to look at your energy level. The energy levels of each person will change throughout the day. While you may be fast and efficient at certain times, you will become slower at other times. There are a number of factors that will effect your energy levels. The amount of sugar you have consumed, interruptions, and stress will all play a factor in the energy levels you have. When you retain an activity log for a number of days, it will give you a sophisticated picture of how you spend your time. It will also show when you perform at your highest levels.

Whenever you make changes to you activities, you will want to make a note of it. In addition to the changes, you will also want to write down information about how you feel at specific times. Once this information has been recorded for a set period of time, you will want to review it. If you are like many people, you will be surprised by the amount of time you spend doing things that are not very important. You will also notice that you are more energetic at certain times of the day. The energy that you will have will often be dependent on the number of breaks you take. The type of nutrition you consume is important as well.

The amazing thing about activity logs is that they provide you with information. This is information which is important, because it will tell you a lot about how you manage your time. Once you know more about your activities and energy levels, you will be able to experiment to find out ways you can improve your time management skills. The activity log will also allow you to terminate activities that are a waste of time. It will show you bad habits that you need to get rid of. For example, if you find that you are consistently wasting time talking on the phone, you will need to either end phone calls quickly, or reduce the amount of time you spend talking to people about things that are not important.

Activity logs are a great tool for anyone who wants to enhance their time management skills. It allows you to get a detailed understanding of how you spend your time. When you are able to attain important information, you will be able to take actions which are based on what you’ve learned. Once you have attained the knowledge which allows you to know how much time you are spending doing things, you will next want to use that knowledge to help you improve. Doing this will put you on the path to wisdom.
